We soon came to realise that it is not just about individual cancers, but about all cancers affecting children and teenagers. Most cancers require chemotherapy treatment, radiotherapy treatment or a combination of both, and the side effects of these drugs take their toll on young bodies.
We also quickly learned that a lot of cancers are difficult to detect in this age group and feel that, by supporting children and teenagers with all forms of cancer, we can make a difference to outcomes in the future.
Be Child Cancer Aware campaignTo raise awareness of all forms of cancer in children and teenagers, we have set up the Be Child Cancer Aware campaign.
Types of childhood cancerChild and teenage cancer is a fact, and parents, teenagers and young adults need to be aware of these cancers.
Child cancer symptomsUnexplained weight loss, headaches, and swelling or persistent pain in bones, joints, the back or legs - these are just some of the symptoms to look out for.
